Vantage Series Tensile Tester

The Thwing-Albert EJA Vantage testing system provides maximum testing flexibility in a compact frame, only 250 mm (10 in) wide.

Four frames are available providing capacities from 1 kN (225 lbs) to 10 kN (2,280 lbs) of tension/compression force. All of the frames fully integrate system electronics and software controls eliminating the complications of interfacing with external control boxes or additional PC cards.

Available Capacities: 1kN, 2kN, 5kN, 10kN (dual screw frame)

QC-3A Universal Materials Tensile Tester

The QC-3A upholds the standards of the QC line while adding the functionality of a RS-232 interface, a digital load controller and enhanced software. Ideal for tensile, compression, coefficient of friction and peel analysis, the QC-3A is an extremely flexible, cost-effective testing system.

The singlescrew frame provides up to 1100 lbs (5 kN/500kg) tensile force with extremely accurate control throughout the entire load range. The digital load
controller ensures extremely accurate, reliable test data.

Inkometer 1100 Electronic Ink Tester

The Inkometer 1100 measures the apparent tack of printing inks under conditions that closely approximate the dynamic conditions of the ink-distribution system of a printing press during printing.

Featuring a new keypad and multi-line display the Inkometer 1100’s intuitive interface streamlines operation for exceptional ease of use. The new design embodies Thwing-Albert’s continuing attention to customer needs. The Inkometer 1100 provides advanced features such as test method storage, statistical reporting and data exporting, providing the tools to the testing lab that increase productivity in the printing and ink development industries.

In addition to four pre-defined ASTM D-4361 based test methods, the Inkometer 1100 allows for storage of five user definable methods. Methods include specification for distribution roller speed, distribution time, testing roller speed, testing time and sampling rate. The Inkometer 1100 stores up to 180 tack readings per test. Tack readings can also be transmitted via the RS-232 port or exported to a USB flash drive.

FP-2260 Friction/Peel Tester

This Coefficient of Friction Tester (COF) / Peel Tester can measure static and kinetic coefficient of friction as well as run seal strength tests, 180° peel, 90° peel, and T-peel tests. The FP-2260 also offers a tensile test mode to perform lightweight tensile tests up to 10 kg (22 lbf).

Its small bench top design makes the FP-2260 light weight allowing it to be used in a laboratory or setup out on the production floor for offline testing as needed.

Plastic film, paper, paperboard, adhesives, labels and packaging materials are ideally tested with the FP-2260.

ProGage Thickness Tester

The ProGage utilizes the most advanced technology to quickly and accurately measure the thickness of sheeted materials such as paper, plastic film, tissue and toweling, nonwovens,
and textiles. The ProGage features a dual speed pressure foot which enables it to perform up to 20 test cycles per minute (based on configuration) while maintaining a high degree of
accuracy. The anvil design ensures excellent parallelism as well as zero stability and calibration.
A wide range of selectable presets for the measuring of speed distance and the pressure foot speed, as well as pressure feet diameters and weights, enables the unit to be configured to meet a specific test standard.

Capable of continuous or single testing with statistical analysis that is automatically performed. Average, high, low and standard deviation are computed, displayed and can be
printed.

The ProGage can operate in conjunction with other instruments or be controlled remotely through a computer terminal via a RS-232 port.

ProTear Elmendorf Tear Tester

Three models are available: the Electronic ProTear, the Mechanical ProTear and the
Heavy-Duty ProTear, which ensures you get the instrument ideal for your application and budget.

The ProTear Tester offers several capacity configurations ranging from 200 to 25,600 grams. Capacities can be changed quickly and easily with augmenting weights.

This configuration eliminates the necessity of multiple pendulums and simplifies the testing of different material.

1270 PCA Score Bend & Opening Force Tester

The 1270 PCA measures the force to open or bend paperboard and scored paper carton. Force data is vital for accurately configuring machinery that controls cartons on form, fill and seal lines and to analyze carton performance for runnability and quality control.

  • Opening Force — Measures the maximum force required to open a flat folded carton along score lines.
  • Bending Force — An optional bending fixture measures the maximum force to bend a carton sample up to 90 C. Measure bending stiffness, score ratio of scored vs unscored paperboard and carton fold springback force.
  • Coefficient of Friction (COF) — Model 1270 PCA includes necessary software to measure static and kinetic coefficient of friction.

JDC Sample Cutter

Thwing-Albert’s JDC Sample Cutter is the industry standard for preparing samples for Tensile Testing. Dual-blade cutting action gives you clean, accurate cuts for paper, paperboard, plastic, film, rubber, textiles, nonwovens, metal foils and other sheet materials up to 16″ x 3″. .

QuickPeek Color Proofing Kit

A QuickPeek consists of a compact kit housed in a sturdy wooden case. (Note: Roller Assembly sold separately) It can quickly produce a proof that replicates how ink will appear on a printed copy from the press.

The kit consists of: a smooth flat plate, a steel measuring bar and plunger for obtaining an accurate predetermined volume of ink, a steel spatula for filling the measuring bar and pipe cleaners for cleaning the holes in the measuring bar.

The roller assembly, sold separately [Part # 116-0022], consists of a nitrile pvc blend roller that will work with conventional, hybrid, and UV inks.

The roller is used to distribute the ink on the plate and make a proof.

Gurley High Pressure Densometer with Weighted Arm Assembly

  • High Pressure Densometers are the accepted standard for measuring the porosity, air-permeability or air-resistance of materials having low permeability.
  • Typical materials include coated papers, plastics and membranes.
  • High Pressure units are recommended whenever a standard unit would yield excessive measurement times.

Gurley Permeometers

  • The Gurley Model 4301 Permeometer measures the porosity or air-permeability of materials where air flow is an important characteristic relative to their use.
  • These materials might be non-woven or woven textiles, filter and cloth felts, some types of blotting, saturating and absorbent bag papers as well as meshes.

Conform to TAPPI T-251, ASTM D-737, DATM 70.0-70 and ISO 5636/1. 

  


Gurley Standard and Low Pressure Densometers

  • Densometers are the accepted standard for measuring the porosity of materials such as papers, wovens, plastics and membranes.
  • All Densometers measure the time required for a given volume and of air (25cc to 400cc) to flow through a standard area of material being tested under light uniform pressure.
  • Certain models, such as the S-P-S Tester, are also used to measure surface smoothness and material softness.

PGX+ Contact Angle Tester

The PGX+ is a compact, video-based instrument that measures the wetting and absorption of virtually any size or shape surface without the need to prepare sample strips.
